About The Alan and Ghalib Kurdi Foundation

The Alan and Ghalib Kurdi Foundation is founded by Abdullah Kurdi, the Syrian refugee who lost his entire family while attempting to seek safety, and Tima Kurdi, his sister who lives in Vancouver, BC. The picture of Abdullah’s son, Alan Kurdi, made headlines around the world and prompted citizens from many countries to act, opening hearts and borders to refugees. The Alan and Ghalib Kurdi Foundation was created to honour Abdullah’s two sons, Alan and Ghalib, and his wife Rehanna.

The mission of the Alan and Ghalib Kurdi Foundation is to help children living in refugee camps by providing nutritious meals, clothing and medicine.  Work will begin in Kurdistan where Abdullah is currently living. Abdullah and Tima were inspired to start providing outreach for refugee children after visiting the camps soon after his family’s tragic death, and at the anniversary in 2016, bringing much-needed diapers to families. The Alan and Ghalib Kurdi Foundation’s long term goal  is to expand services globally. When it is safe to do so, Abdullah plans to return to Syria to oversee the rebuilding of schools, hospitals and orphanages.

If you are interested in supporting the Alan and Ghalib Kurdi Foundation and helping improve living conditions of refugee children around the world, please support the Alan and Ghalib Kurdi Foundation however you can.
